Rosalia

Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised on the suburbs of Barcelona her music is described as an "atypical pop star" because of her genre-bending music styles. Her passion for music was ignited by Spanish folk music at the age of 13 years old. She studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music and also performed at weddings. Reimagining flamenco by mixing it with hip-hop and pop music, the album produced the hit singles "Malamente" and "Pienso en tu Mira" which caught the interest of the Spanish general public, and were released to universal critical acclaim. El Mal Querer, who was honored with the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year and listed in Rolling stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time has paved the way for her rise into the world music scene. [12][1313 Rosalia experimented with urbano music in her releases in 2019 "Con Altura" and "Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi", which achieved global recognition. Her third album, Motomami (2022) she gave reggaeton a unique style, straying slightly from the original flamenco sound. The album gained the attention of the world with its two singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was the album that received the highest rating of the year on Metacritic. Throughout her career, Rosalia has accumulated ten number-one singles in her home country, the most for an artist from the country. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including 2 Album of the Year wins), four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been conferred to Rosalia. Rosalia also won two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard presented her with the Rising Star Award, in 2019, for "changing the sound today's mainstream songs with her fresh flamenco pop". 18 years ago, she is also the first Latino-singing group to be recognized as Best New Artist at Grammys. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She is the eldest of four children born to Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who owns a tiny metalworking company. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They parted in 2019. Her 23-year-old older sibling, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989), who works alongside Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia discovered her love for the performing arts when she was a young girl, particularly after she discovered the discography of Camaron de La Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she began her education in music. She completed a six-year course in the academy. She took classes at the Raval School, and later was transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. The singer also performed on her own as a singer for weddings, music bars, and other events. She was offered "a little over 80 euro or in exchange for dinner". Rosalia was capable of meeting many underground Spanish artists at the period, including La Zowi and Yung Beef, Kaydy Case, Hinds Maria Escarmiento and Kaydy Cain.
