Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington has been television personality, journalist writer, television philanthropist and author for a decade. Her role also includes being the owner of The Huffington Post, an independent, liberal online newsmagazine. Originating from Greece Arianna Huffington came to England with her family when she was sixteen years of age. At Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. She was elected president at the age of 21 of the famed debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student to hold this title. Following graduation, she left her name as an independent syndicated columnist, and, with the advent of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online platform for voice that offered critical observations regarding the current political situation. The fame of Arianna helped to attract several well-known contributors who shared their opinions about politics, news and the arts. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003, when she ran as an independent in a recall election in California in order to take over the position of Governor Davis. The project she headed was a Detroit automobile project that was fuel efficient. In 2009, she was ranked by Forbes as the most influential women in the media, achieving 12th spot on the list and in the same year Guardian included her in the top 100 of the media lists. The year 2011 saw AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her the head of that media group which included many then-existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she was close with her father it was her bond with her mother which shaped her character. She was a leader from the beginning. When she was 16 beginning her education at Cambridge, United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college she was a member of the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first female and only president from outside the country. In 1972, she earned the degree of master's in Economics. The years that followed after graduation she worked as an anchor on television and a columnist. Then she appeared on the series Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books after receiving editorial advice from the latter.
