Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his family and service to his community. First family he is the youngest of nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. The second football was that Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. He won two championships and 32-1-1 in his three seasons as Oklahoma's main man. In his role as an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded an award for his third season in 1975. Selmon obtained a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering in his college days. He settled down in Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and made three times all-pro. The business venture he started began. By 1988 he had become an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the 10 most notable young men across the nation. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He was captain of his college team in 1975. In 1993, he was named assistant director of the University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
